When it is needed
For surface deterioration, unevenness, discrepancies in work quantities or disputes about the quality of sports facility construction.
What we examine
- Surfaces in halls, on tracks and at outdoor facilities.
- Accessible base elements, junctions and drainage.
- Design, as-built and acceptance documents.
Materials to prepare
- The contract, design or technical brief specifying surface requirements.
- As-built drawings, work records and material information.
- Defect photographs and their development history.
- Operating, repair and previous inspection documents.
Sample questions
- Which defects in the surface and accessible facility elements were identified during examination?
- Do the dimensions checked and accessible construction features comply with the task supplied?
- What technical circumstances may explain the identified defects?
- What base or material examinations are necessary to check the causes of deterioration?
- What work is needed to remedy the established defects within the agreed scope of analysis?
How the work is carried out
- We will compare asset requirements with its actual conditions of use.
- We will carry out available inspection, measurements and analysis of as-built documents.
- We will describe defects, testable causal explanations and the need for specialist tests.
Result
A technical report on the condition and quality of the elements examined, with a defect schedule and reasoned answers.
What affects the conclusions
Shock absorption, slip resistance and other specialist properties cannot be established from photographs alone. Sampling and instrumented tests require separate agreement.
Frequently asked questions
Can remedial costs be calculated?
Yes, as an additional question where sufficient data on the scope and method of work are available. Examination of defect causes and a cost estimate are agreed within the task's scope.
Does this clear the facility for competitions?
The examination answers agreed technical questions. Official facility certification, inclusion in registers and clearance for an event are not automatically included.
